About Chong Gon Byun

Born in 1948 in Daegu, Korea, Chong Gon Byun has lived and worked in New York since the early 1980s, when he relocated to study at The Art Students League of New York.  Prior to arriving in the U.S., Byun received his  Masters in Fine Arts from Keimyung University in Deagu in 1977, and his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the Painting Department at Chung-Ang University in Seoul. His works have been exhibited in solo and group shows both nationally and internationally, and are featured in the permanent collections of several museums worldwide.  Byun is a 1978 Grand-Prix Awardee of The First Dong-A Art Festival organized by the Dong-A Press Center in Seoul.
