Ariane Michel lives in Paris, where she was born in 1973, and graduated from the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. Her work has been shown in contemporary art venues (Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris; MoMA in New York) as well as in the film world (Locarno Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival, and FID Marseilles). Ariane Michel’s recent project The Screening, which is both a performance and a film, was shown as an “Art Statements” project at Art Basel 38, and on the Piazza Grande at the 60th Locarno Film Festival. Her latest solo exhibition was held at the Fondation Ricard in Paris. Ariane Michel’s documentary feature Les Hommes (95’, 2006, Great Prize in the French competition at FID Marseilles 2006) was released in France in 2008 by Shellac Distribution.
