Born in Reno, Nevada in 1979, Nick van Woert received his Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Oregon in 2002 and his MFA from Parsons in 2007. Van Woert renders large-scale sculptures of anthropomorphic figures in a state of mutation that reinterpret our relationship to architecture, nature, and historical figuration. Recent solo exhibitions include the Grimm Gallery in Amsterdam and Yvon Lambert in New York. Van Woert has exhibited widely throughout Europe and North America, including with the group shows The Shape We're In at the Zabludowicz Collection (New York), Je Crois Aux Miracles at Collection Lambert (Avignon, France), Lean at Nicole Klagsbrun (New York), and H x W x D at Wentrup (Berlin). In October 2011, van Woert’s work will be presented in the solo show Natural History at the Yvon Lambert Gallery in Paris.
