Museums in the City:
A Talk with Stéphane Martin
and Trevor Smith

Thursday, November 8, 2007 at 7pm

Join FIAF and France-Amérique for this inaugural session of Hot Topics, a new series that addresses socio-political issues that impact both France and the United States.

Museums are challenged on multiple fronts. In order to attract crowds and generate revenue, many turn to blockbuster exhibitions that border more on entertainment than on cultural exploration.

Stéphane Martin, President-Director of Quai Branly Museum in Paris and Trevor Smith, Curator-in Residence at the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College will speak on these and related topics. Pascale Richard, Editor-in-Chief of France-Amérique will moderate. The discussion will examine the relevance and dynamism of museums in France and the United States and their perception by the general public.
