French youth and urban cultures have absorbed and disseminated the American urban tradition of hip-hop through the Pockemon Crew, one of France’s premier and award-winning dance ensembles. Since 2006, the group has dominated hip-hop dance’s international scene. Comfortable with a variety of music—from cabaret style to traditional Arabic music—Pockemon Crew created That’s Life!? as a visual event that juxtaposes the French urban experience with the multiple traditions that influenced the dancers.
