Persepolis is an autobiographical gem, based on Marjane Satrapi’s bestselling graphic novel. The film’s simple black and white images are effective and bold, placing the focus on a poignant and heartbreaking coming-of-age story set in modern Iran. The iconic images created by Ms. Satrapi spring to life, making Persepolis one of the year’s best films.
