Since
founding her company in 1989, choreographer and dancer Nacera
Belaza has created a body of work that succeeds in questioning
the codes of dance and religion with a personal style that
mixes beauty and austerity.
Presented by Danspace
Project as part of Crossing the Line 2009, Belaza’s Le
Cri is faithful to her way of life and view of the
world, in that it is characterized by its restraint. At
the same time the duet, which Belaza dances together with
her sister, is overflowing with sensuality. It is a musing
on human life and our desire for spirituality, without
losing sight of pleasure and enjoyment.
A post-performance discussion will take place on Thursday,
September 17. |
