Attend a special evening led by Eric Mourlot, founder of New York’s Galerie Mourlot, who will discuss the history of his grandfather’s famous printshop founded in 1852 in Paris. The printshop became a lithographic Atelier in the 1920s, and as its leader Fernand introduced a long list of celebrated 20th-century artists—Calder, Chagall, Dufy, Léger, Matisse, Miró, and Picasso, to name a few—to the art of lithography. Mr. Mourlot will speak about the artistic and historical importance
of the posters on view in the
Gallery, which were created by these elite artists in the Atelier Mourlot, touching on the artists’ relationships with his grandfather and sharing rarely seen photos and anecdotes. He will also delve into the process and technique of lithography, explaining how these original, vintage works of art came to be, and why they have become such desired collectibles.
The talk will be followed by a Q & A session, and a cocktail reception to
mix and mingle
in the FIAF Gallery. |
