This week-long workshop, led by
teaching artists Olivier di Pizio and Gonzalo Belmonte of the Ateliers
des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris, brings
together twenty French and American
painters to create a provocative
experience through art collaboration.
For this week-long process, the artists
work and eat together for five days,
eight hours a day. As di Pizio and
Belmonte believe, “Sharing emotions
generates a flexible atmosphere that
encourages dreaming and exchange
in art creation.”
Conceived by the New York-based
French painter Betty K, the workshop
is designed to have experienced artists
create art with di Pizio and Belmonte,
through the exchange of experiences,
culture, techniques, and energies.
Di Pizio and Belmonte have applied this
unusual collective approach to studio
work for over fifteen years. They see
their role as mentors, creating work
based on exchange and fusion.
Each
participating artist provides
ephemera from his or her own life—
photographs, documents, and other
items of personal significance. Using
these elements as a part of the sharing
and creation process, the teaching
artists will foster highly personal
works that are at once collective and
completely individual. |
