French artist Didier Massard’s largescale photographs challenge the viewer. His Ektacolor prints are real images of imagined scenes, a result of elaborate studio constructions requiring meticulous craftsmanship and masterful lighting. Massard’s haunting photographs are as beautiful as they are chilling.

This exhibition coincides with Otherworldly: Optical Delusions and Small Realities (June 7–Sept 18) at the Museum of Arts and Design (MAD), featuring a life-size reconstruction of Massard’s studio with the installation he created for a new photo on display there.

Didier Massard will be at FIAF on Wednesday, June 8 at 5pm for an Artist Talk. He will speak about the imaginary worlds he creates in an evening conversation with Julie Saul, founder of the eponymous gallery, and David McFadden, Chief Curator of New York's Museum of Arts and Design (MAD).
