In
the Words of Duras
February–March 2010 |
|
 |
Known
for her evocative and experimental style, Marguerite Duras is
one of France’s great writers. At times controversial and
always deeply fascinating, she revolutionized the form of
the novel in the twentieth century with her expressive, free-flowing
style. And while she moved freely between media, including
theater and film, appreciation for her work on stage and
screen is deeply rooted in the power of her words.
This winter, FIAF and
the Cultural
Services of the French Embassy present, in conjunction
with Anthology
Film Archives and the Baryshnikov
Arts Center, a four-week, multi-venue series dedicated
to the provocative works and words of this great artist.
The series brings renowned, innovative French artists and
directors to the U.S. as they bring the words of Duras to
the stage and screen. |
