Dorothy J. Gaiter is wine and food editor of the quarterly, France Magazine, and senior editor of the new wine website, The Grape Collective. Gaiter conceived and wrote The Wall Street Journal's wine column, "Tastings," from 1998 to 2010 with her husband, John Brecher. She has had a distinguished career in journalism as a reporter, editor, columnist and editorial writer at The Miami Herald, and as a reporter and editor at The New York Times and The Journal, which twice nominated her work for the Pulitzer Prize. Gaiter and Brecher, who met in 1973, have two daughters and have written four books. They have appeared several times on the Martha Stewart Living television show, CBS Sunday Morning, National Public Radio, and Today, for which they selected and uncorked the wine for its 50th-anniversary celebration. They are also well-known for their creation , ďOpen That Bottle Night,Ē an event on the last Saturday of every February during which people worldwide finally open a wine that has been too special to open.
