Tribute to Jean-Pierre Léaud

Jean-Pierre Léaud became one of the leading actors of the French New Wave through his partnerships with François Truffaut and Jean-Luc Godard. This tribute spans Léaud’s prolific career from his debut at the age of 15 in Truffaut’s Les Quatre cents coups to later films with esteemed directors including Raoul Ruiz and Olivier Assayas.

An Englishwoman goes to Paris and befriends a Frenchman. She invites him to England, where he meets and falls in love with her sister.

Film critic and historian Elliot Stein will introduce the 9pm screening. He is currently a writer for The Village Voice and has been published in The New York Times, Rolling Stone and other notable publications. His closest friend is cinematographer Néstor Almendros, who shot many films by Truffaut, including Les Deux Anglaises et le Continent. Stein will share behind-the-scenes stories on the making of that film.
