Actress/singer Paradis and Leconte veteran Auteuil are mesmerizing in this wistful yet unabashedly romantic film. Adèle, having endured a young lifetime of suffering, jumps from a bridge only to be rescued by Gabor, an aging knife-thrower who suggests that she become the target for his latest act.
