"Losier’s film captures the poignant paradoxes, the ecstasies
and burdens, of the transformation of life into art."—The New Yorker, Richard Brody
Celebrated filmmaker and FIAF Film Curator Marie Losier’s mesmerizing portrait chronicles the life and work of pioneering musician and performance artist Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and her uncommon, indelible, and unforgettable love affair with Lady Jaye.
Seven years in the making, it explores Genesis’s musical trajectory, starting with Throbbing Gristle in the 70s to the still very active cult favorites Psychic TV, and how his chance encounter with a dominatrix in New York called Lady Jaye brought about a singular and enduring artistic collaboration and a brazen partnership that defied all perceptions of love.
A prize winner at the 2011 Berlin International Film Festival, the film enjoyed its triumphant American premieres at the 2011 Tribeca Film Festival and SXSW.
Join us for a special screening of this captivating love story followed by a Q&A with director Marie Losier.
