Karaoke night, dinner at a French restaurant, pétanque in Central Park... learning French will be extra fun this season!

Our brand new French and the City course for beginners approaches language learning in a novel way. The course takes French beyond the classroom, not only teaching you the language, but giving you the real-life conversation practice you need to start speaking with confidence. Combining a mix of language lessons, citywide field trips, and social activities, this class will help you learn French in a social and fun environment. By the end of the course, you’ll have a strong foundation in the French language, plus the experience to take what you’ve learned into the real world.

Course Content

Language lessons using our proven immersion method

Social activities where you will put your French conversation skills to use, such as a board game night, karaoke sing off, cooking workshops, and more

Two cultural outings per course, such as dinner at a French restaurant, scavenger hunt, pétanque in Central Park, and gallery visits

The Advantages

  • A Perfect Mix of Traditional and Non-Traditional Learning!
French and the City combines proven teaching methods with a creative, learning-by-doing approach. We’ll have a textbook and lessons that feel more like a typical classroom experience, but we’ll also go outside the box with hands-on activities that bring the French language to life.
  • Relaxed and Fun Environment
Learning French should be fun. We’ve designed a comfortable pace and atmosphere where you’ll feel at ease trying new things and making the mistakes that are part of the learning process.
  • Real-World Practice
Through guided practice, interactive activities, and cultural field trips, you will reinvest what you’ve learned and get a firmer grasp on everyday conversation skills.
  • Authenticity
You’ll be in an authentic French-speaking environment from day one. Guided by native-speaking French teachers, this immersion experience will help you learn quickly and effectively.

No prior French required. Complete beginners should start with 101 Level Part 1 class. Students with some prior French should take the placement test to determine their level.
