Le Club Théâtre

An opportunity for lovers of theater and the French language to express themselves and perform on stage. Participate in creative projects and gain confidence and spontaneity in the use of French.

Le Club Théâtre is lead by Marie-Hélène Brabant, a professionally trained actress who has been teaching theater games and acting techniques in Paris and New York for 15 years.

Students of all levels & native French speakers can join Le Club Théâtre.

Physical and voice warm up – Improvisations - Theater games - French texts studies. A different public performance project for each term.

Instructor: Marie-Hélène Brabant
Intermediate / Advanced levels & French speakers
Once a week, 2 hrs per class
Fee: $430

Spring Term (April 5 - June 14)   
8-12 yrs (THC) Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm
13-17 yrs (THJ) Saturday 2-4pm
Building of a show from classical and modern French texts.
Performance on June 14, 2008 (Florence Gould Hall)

Adults > Theater / Acting & Performing Classes (ACT)

Adults > Reading in Action Classes (READ)  

This class will be based on La règle du Jeu by Jean Renoir, in parallel with Les Caprices de Marianne of Musset, on which Renoir partially based his film.

11 weeks, once a week, 1.5 hrs per class

Students will explore a theme in the work of a French playwright through experimentation, theater games and theater training. All in French.

Adults > Reading in Action Workshops (WKRIA)  

Each month students explore a different genre of French text through exercises such as reading aloud and pronunciation practice. These workshops will help you gain confidence in your spoken French and improve your pronunciation while discovering different styles of writing throughout French literature.

Instructor: Marie-Hélène Brabant
Level: Intermediate to native French speakers
Fee: $75 per workshop or $180 for all 3

Intensive immersion in French. Each workshop will develop a different aspect of acting in French.

Bring your own lunch. Lunch will be taken at fi:af. It will be an opportunity to share opinions and points of view on French movies and plays.

Writing and Directing Workshop

Description: Write your one act play, direct it and perform.
