Course Description
Develop an understanding of the vocabulary, civil law, and
structure of the major legal institutions of France and Europe.
Perfect both written comprehension and expression by working
on a wide range of legal documents and preparing for Diplôme
Français Professionnel Juridique B2 (DFP Juridique B2)
exams of the French Chamber of Commerce.
The course consists of 10 thematical units:
1. Scope and the Sources of the Law
2. French National Institutions
3. EU Institutions
4. Jurisdictions
5. Actors and Procedures
6. Legal Entities (rights, obligations, property, responsibility)
7. Life and Death of Businesses and Corporations
8. Professional Relations within the Company
9. Clients, Partners and Competitors
10. Relations between Business and Public Authority.
Each unit has 4 sections, each treating a different aspect
of law. Each unit provides written and oral documents which
propose various activities for oral and written comprehension
as well as exercises focused on the acquisition and reinforcement
of the legal jargon and administrative phrasing. Students
are made aware of the necessity of transposing everyday language
into legal language.
Each 11 week session covers at least 3 units. For the students
wishing to take the exam for the Diplôme Français Professionnel
Juridique B2 delivered by the Chambre de Commerce et
d’Industrie de Paris, it is recommended that you take at
least 3 sessions of the course.
