Creative Writing

WR350 (Level B2)
WR450 (Level C1)

The goal of this course is to help advanced students master writing techniques of the entire writing process: gathering information, organizing and clarifying ideas, exploring different styles and correcting usage errors. Through a broad range of writing assignments, the course will help students build vocabulary, learn new idioms and think creatively in French.

The students interact with one another as the drafts in progress are discussed, analyzed and revised in class.

Analysis of individual writing problems and usage errors will serve as the springboard for discussion and exercises.

In this course you will:

  • Widen your vocabulary
  • Fine-tune your knowledge of grammar points
  • Acquire a better understanding of French syntax
  • Stimulate your creative writing processes
  • Overcome your fear of expressing yourself in writing and speech
  • Learn to appropriate your writing style so suit your target audience
  • Increase your written and oral comprehension skills based on direct treatment of expression problems
  • Learn to work in a collective writing workshop situation
  • Improve your reading
  • Widen your knowledge of the world
  • Stimulate you to undertake your own writing projects
