Phonetics (WKPHO)

$75 per workshop / $325 for the series of 5 workshops
Series of 5 workshops, 3 hours each
These workshops are for students of all levels who wish to improve their pronunciation and understanding of spoken French.
You will study phonetics (pronunciation of sounds and intonation) and the relationship between sounds and letters (how to write a sound, how to read letters).
Practical and creative exercises will make these workshops both challenging and fun. We will be working with audio exercises as well as poems, tongue twisters, songs, etc.
You can sign up for one or several of the individual workshops according to the skills you wish to reinforce. |

Vowels : [e], [ε] and [ə] (thé, père, je)
Intonation :
How to pronounce individual words and words within a sentence (sentence rhythm) |

Vowels : [o] and [É”] (jaune, pomme)
Consonants : [z] and [s] (rose, français); [ʒ] and [ʃ] (jaune, chose)
Intonation and rhythm:
When and how to link sounds (within a sentence) |
Workshop 3

Phonetics :
Vowels : [i], [u]and [y] (lit, joue, rue)
Consonants : [f], [b] and [v] (fleur, beurre, verre)
How to pronounce final letters (dix,plus,mer,etc.)
Intonation and rhythm:
When not to link words within a sentence
How to differentiate and produce statements, questions and exclamations |

Vowels : [ã], [ ] and /E*/ (mange, on ; un, matin)
Consonants : [R] (croc)
Intonation and rhythm:
How to stress an element of the sentence
How to express feelings (surprise, enthusiasm, etc.) |
