French as a Foreign Language (ages 5–17)

These afterschool and Saturday courses engage beginner, intermediate and advanced students with age-appropriate activities like games and songs to build communication skills.

  • All classes are designed according to children’s age, interest, skills and abilities.
  • After completing beginner levels, children are able to express themselves in simple phrases and communicate in basic situations.
  • Intermediate levels aim at expanding their vocabulary and language skills, and develop their ability to discuss topics of interest.
  • Advanced level students will feel at ease in French and be able to communicate with assurance.

Students are divided into the following four age groups:

Benjamins (5–6 years) (EBJ)

The program is designed to teach your child how to introduce himself and others in French, talk about his immediate environnment and be able to express his wishes, needs and desires. We will encourage children to interact in French during the class. Activities will be various: Stories, projects, songs and educative games.

Minimes (7–10 years) (EMN)

This course is specially designed for young readers. The main purpose of this course is still oral communication and understanding. Reading and writing is introduced and comprises games involving children learning materials.

Cadets (11–14 years) (ECD)

Focused on conversation this course will also teach them to write and read French. Teenagers’ taste for music, movies, and celebrities is used to stimulate their interest and motivation.

Juniors (15–17 years) (EJR)

Focused on conversation this course will also teach them to write and read French. Teenagers’ taste for music, movies, and celebrities is used to stimulate their interest and motivation.
