Learning French at FIAF goes beyond the classroom! Here are resources for students who want to immerse themselves even more in the French language and culture.

The Library

Be sure to visit the John and Francine Haskell Library on the 2nd floor (FIAF Manhattan) for an extensive collection of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, and the digital platform Culturethèque! You can also find FIAFLibrary on Spotify to enjoy our collection of French music.

Cultural Events

Immerse yourself in French culture at FIAF! Our cultural offerings include performances, art exhibitions, and Art de Vivre talks. FIAF also hosts New York’s only year-round French cinema series: CinéSalonJoin us every Tuesday for an evening of film in French with English subtitles, followed by wine and conversation. Students get in for free with their complimentary FIAF membership!

DuoLingo: Extensive written lessons and dictation, and a vocabulary section where learned words can be practiced.
Anki: Download sets of flashcards and build your vocabulary.
Memrise: Makes learning fun with mems – little snippets of imagination and humor that aid memorization.
WordPower: Learn vocabulary with pictures and audio files. Store difficult words in a word bank or enable push notifications to receive a “word of the day.”
Learn French with RFI: Improve your French through a virtual adventure as you step into the shoes of a journalist to investigate a suspicious case.
