Ellie Ga est née à New York City et elle habite à Brooklyn. Elle a étudié l’art à Hunter College et elle aime associer les voyages et l’art. Elle a travaillé en Malaisie, au musée de l’Hermitage (en Russie) et en Serbie. Ellie fait de la photographie, du dessin et de la vidéo. Pendant un an et demi, Ellie a fait des recherches sur l’histoire de l’Arctique à l’Explorers Club de New York (proche du FIAF). Son grand rêve était d’aller en Arctique. Aujourd’hui elle est l’artiste sur Tara, un bateau français. Entouré de glace, Tara est dans l’océan arctique pendant un an.

Ellie a été notre étudiante au FIAF pendant l'été 2007.


Ellie Ga was born in New York City in 1976. She received her MFA from Hunter College in NYC. Under a fellowship from the Friends of the Hermitage Museum, she was a guest artist at the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia and has also been an artist-in-residence at Women’s Studio Workshop and The Newark Museum of Art. Her performances and installations have been shown in New York at the Swiss Institute-Contemporary Art, The Rubin Museum of Art,The Newark Museum of Art, St. Mark’s Poetry Project, Socrates Scuplture Park and at the Museen fur Gegenwartkunst, Basel, Switzerland. Her artist’s books have received funding from The National Endowment for the Arts, The Geraldine Dodge Foundation and The Jerome Foundation. Her work is in numerous collections including The Museum of Modern Art (NY), Yale University and The New York Public Library. Ellie is currently the first artist-in-residence of The Explorers Club, NY. She is a founding editor of Ugly Duckling Presse.

Ellie studied French at FIAF's Language Center this Summer 2007.
