Director of Digital Advertising

Position Summary: The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) seeks an experienced, highly-organized, and entrepreneurial-minded digital marketing specialist with a proven track record to develop, implement, and oversee the execution of digital advertising for FIAF.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage all integrated FIAF digital media efforts, including advertising, search engine optimization, and digital marketing campaigns to increase sales for FIAF’s language center, cultural events, and special events
  • Research and improve multiple CRM channels, including event ticketing and school registration programs
  • Build and execute digital marketing strategy
  • Analyze and aggressively pursue best practices and share insights throughout FIAF on success metrics for digital advertising, email marketing, and paid social media campaigns
  • Increase institutional visibility and drive traffic to FIAF website, social media channels, and grow FIAF’s email distribution list
  • Develop and measure key performance indicators, ensuring digital campaigns are correctly launched, delivered on-time, and accurately tracked

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A minimum of seven years of proven successful experience in digital marketing is preferred.
  • The individual must have the ability to supervise and/or direct activities in the area of digital advertising and digital marketing.
  • The individual must possess excellent writing and presentation skills in English with a strong eye for details, as well as proficiency with basic HTML coding and Wordpress.
  • The ideal candidate can make timely and quality decisions based on a mixture of analysis, wisdom, experience and judgement, and must be able to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good human relations skills are a must, as is the ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.
  • Advanced French language skills are ideal, though not required.

Human Resources Director

Position Summary: The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) seeks an experienced candidate for the open position of Human Resources Director. Under the direction of the CFO/Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Human Resources Director is responsible for all FIAF Human Resource activities. This person will be responsible for a warm and congenial staff of around 45 full-time and 100 part-time employees. Responsibilities include talent management, benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, pay administration, and visa applications.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage all recruiting efforts and hiring processes
  • Conduct new employee onboarding program
  • Research and analyze cost effective benefit options, compensation practices and other HR policies and make recommendations to CFO/VP of Finance and Administration.
  • Coach, counsel, offer direction and input to managers and employees on company policies and practices, staffing, employee development, HR processes, performance management, conflict resolution.
  • Serves as liaison between managers/employees and payroll to facilitate resolution of compensation and benefits related issues.

Preschool Assistant Teacher

The FIAF Preschool is located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Our mission is to provide a joyful entry into French language and culture, combining the best of the école maternelle and American preschool experience to help each child reach his/her full potential.

Position Summary:
The FIAF Preschool, a French immersion program, taught entirely in French, for toddlers ages 2.5 and 3 is looking for a full-time (8:30am-4:30pm) assistant teacher, starting August 27, 2018, who will be responsible for assisting with the planning and implementing of developmentally-appropriate activities designed to promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth in preschool children.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist head teacher in the implementation of the curriculum.
  • Provide for the physical safety of children through anticipation and removal of dangers, observation of children at play or at rest, and by appropriately responding to injuries.
  • Help children with daily tasks and activities.
  • Help children with transitions and foster their autonomy.
  • Replace head teacher when necessary.
  • Respect school’s philosophy and policies.

Qualifications:
Qualified candidates must be 21, native French speakers with a proficiency level of English, have a high school diploma with some college credits (Bachelor’s degree with some education or early childhood credits preferred), and/or a DOH-approved study plan, and 1 year of comparable experience (French immersion or bilingual program).

Summer French Day Camps Director

Position Summary:
The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) seeks an experienced candidate for the position of Summer French Day Camps Director. Every summer, FIAF offers French Day Camps for children ages 1 to 17 — learn more here. Under the supervision of the Vice President of Education, the Day Camps Director is responsible for the direct care and supervision of all campers and teachers/volunteers, promoting and actively participating in all camp activities, providing a safe and fun learning environment, and serving as a positive role model for campers and teachers/volunteers.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Group supervision of campers with attention to: behavior and group management, health and safety, security, and personal and skill development
  • Create a high-energy, fun, and creative experience for campers
  • Manage daily drop-off and pick-up procedures
  • Serve as a positive role model to campers and teachers/volunteers
  • Monitor the organization, supervision, and administration of all activities and assemblies
  • Coordinates daily transportation and schedules of all camps
  • Conduct weekly briefings with teachers

  • Must have experience working with children ages 1 to 17
  • Must demonstrate a strong capacity to work in a team environment in a professional manner, positive attitude, excellent judgement, ability to identify problems and work quickly to find solutions
  • Must be able to adapt to multiple and shifting priorities, to deal with high stress situations and to work well under pressure, to perform several tasks concurrently.
  • Must have prior knowledge of/practical experience in: camper psychology, peer leadership and supervision, staff management & motivation.

Language Center Operations Assistant

The FIAF Language Center is the largest language school dedicated to teaching the French language in the tri-state area. With more than 8,000 registrations annually, we offer French in two convenient locations: Manhattan’s Upper East Side and Montclair, NJ.

Position Summary:
The Language Center Operations Assistant will be on the frontlines of customer service for the FIAF Language Center. S/he will be knowledgeable in all Language Center activities (group classes, private lessons, corporate lessons, exams, preschool) and be able to confidently reply to any customer or potential client. S/he will look for patterns in these interactions in order to help improve communication with students as well as the Language Center’s own operations. The hours for this position are Monday-Thursday 1pm-8pm and Saturday 9am-5pm, at our Manhattan location.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome clients and students, answer all questions they may have.
  • Answer questions by phone and email promptly.
  • Register students in person or by phone.
  • Keep students informed of any changes, such as class cancellations or room changes.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as preparing class rosters, certificates of completion for students, etc.
  • Assist Language Center colleagues as needed.
  • Maintain a neat and welcoming reception area.

Youth Programs Coordinator

The FIAF Language Center is the largest language school dedicated to teaching the French language in the tri-state area. We offer French in three convenient locations: Manhattan’s Upper East Side, Brooklyn’s Carroll Gardens, and Montclair, New Jersey. In conjunction with its adult French language learning program, FIAF offers French language-learning programs for toddlers (ages 1-4), kids (5-10) and teens (11-17) from beginner to advanced levels, including French for native-speakers. Our program offers a high level of language instruction through curricula that are specially designed to meet children's pedagogical needs at every stage of their development. All our classes provide an integrated approach to French language and culture.

Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Vice President of Education, the Youth Programs Coordinator organizes, develops and implements all the Language Center youth programs for children ages 1 to 17.

Main Responsibilities
Pedagogy

  • Develop and enrich the youth programs class offerings, based on clients survey and competition
  • Organize and lead teacher training sessions
  • Evaluate and improve teacher performance through classroom observations and coaching
  • Stay current with the latest methodology, pedagogical resources and technology for the teaching of French as a foreign language to a young audience
  • Stay current with the official French curricula for primary school instructions as well as teaching French as a foreign language (official curriculum of the French Ministry of Education and European Framework)
  • Substitute for a teacher classes and conduct placement test occasionally

Administrative Tasks

  • Schedule classes at the beginning of each session
  • Assign classes to teachers
  • Oversee enrollment in youth programs classes/workshops
  • Assist with the registration/transfer process at the start of each session
  • Ensure that classes run smoothly (supply orders, snacks etc)
  • Hire and train new interns (responsibility assignments)
  • Recruit new students/families at fairs
  • Communicate with parents via email on a regular basis

Teachers Management/Human Resources

  • Manage a team of about 30-40 part-time teachers in the youth programs
  • Advise teachers on pedagogy and available pedagogical resources
  • Identify the training needs of the pedagogical team
  • Recruit, train, and assist new instructors

Business Development

  • Communicate program content and updates to parents and answer inquiries
  • Meet with parents regularly to ensure their satisfaction and re-enrollment
  • Seek out prospective clients and ensure enrollment (fairs, open houses… etc)
  • Foster a positive relationship between students, parents and instructors
  • Stay current with the class offerings of our competitors for young French learners as well as with their marketing strategies (web content, etc) in order to establish FIAF as a leader in the field
  • Participate in the elaboration and implementation of FIAF cultural programs for kids
  • Collaborate with FIAF sponsors (kids programs)
  • Nurture partnerships with youth literature and FLE publishers

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Native French-speaker or equivalent proficiency
  • Master 1 or 2 minimum in the field of teaching French as a foreign language or DAEFLE (diplôme d’aptitude à l’enseignement du français langue étrangère)
  • An official teaching diploma (professeur des écoles for instance)
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in teaching French as a foreign language to a young audience
  • Have good knowledge and understanding of the CEFRL (Common European Framework of Reference for the teaching of Foreign Languages) and the Ministry of Education curriculum for preschool
  • Must be knowledgeable on pedagogy as it relates to French language instruction for children 1 to 17 years old
  • Must be knowledgeable with technologies applied to the teaching of foreign languages
  • Must be knowledgeable with Smart Board technology
  • Must demonstrate a strong capacity to work in a team environment

FIAF Montclair is looking for enthusiastic teachers of French as foreign language to teach French language and culture to young children, teens and adults. The teacher will plan, implement and assess lessons and will teach with patience and creativity. FIAF Montclair is a branch of the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) in Manhattan offering language-learning programs for adults, toddlers (ages 1-4), kids (5-10) and teens (11-17) from beginner to advanced levels, including French for native-speakers.

Responsibilities

  • Design and follow a complete teaching plan about French language and culture
