Marketing Coordinator for Cultural Events

Position Summary: The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) is seeking a highly-organized, self-motivated Marketing Coordinator for Cultural Events who would work with the VP of Marketing & Communications to develop, implement, and oversee the execution of cultural marketing programs for FIAF. He/she would liaise with all other key FIAF departments as needed.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Copywriting/editing of all FIAF marketing materials and publications related to cultural events.
  • Create and manage all marketing schedules and production timelines for all materials related to events.
  • Work directly with graphic designers on creation of all materials including 3 seasonal calendars, 3 seasonal cinema brochures, festival brochures, and more.
  • Conceive and manage all ad buys and place all advertising related to cultural events.
  • Coordinate mailing lists, direct-mail schedules, and postal accounts.
  • Assist in creation of marketing plans, market analysis, and recommendations for event pricing.
  • Actively seek out strategic partners for each program/event that will further sales.
  • Ensure all marketing activities are aligned with the FIAF brand.
  • Survey and evaluate other cultural institutions to benchmark competition.

Additional Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Oversee departmental intern.
  • Coordinate all relevant ticketing issues with Box Office Manager.
  • Monitor ticket sales and send daily reports.
  • Hire and manage outside photographers and videographers.
  • Maintain marketing archives, supplies, and equipment.

Qualifications:

  • BA in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Preferred 2+ years demonstrated professional growth in marketing or related field.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills. Writing samples required.
  • Strong project management skills required.
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully.
  • Ability to work independently; prioritize tasks; and exercise good judgment and initiative.
  • Available to attend evening cultural events
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal).
  • Knowledge of French required.
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc).
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred but not mandatory.
  • Sense of humor

Digital Marketing Coordinator

Position Summary: The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) is seeking a highly-organized, self-motivated Digital Marketing Coordinator with excellent verbal and written communication skills to help coordinate FIAF’s email marketing campaigns and website updates. Under the direction of the current Website Administrator, you will work with all FIAF’s departments (cultural, educational, development) to fulfill their email and digital marketing objectives.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Help manage email marketing campaigns end-to-end, including list pulls, testing, execution, mailing, and analytics
  • Manage email schedule for upcoming events and classes
  • Code emails and site pages in HTML
  • Create pages and content for the FIAF website fiaf.org
  • Be responsible for website updates
  • Compile marketing statistics, analyze, and create reports
  • Stay current with best practices, strategies, and industry standards related to email and digital marketing

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 1-2 years experience through past jobs or internships
  • Fluency in HTML, CSS and other Internet technologies
  • Experience using an E-Marketing tool and knowledge of database management
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to provide creative input and suggest different ways to communicate marketing messages
  • Must be able to multi-task and effectively manage the timely delivery of work against short deadlines
  • Ability to create written and visual content that clearly communicates a message
  • Fluency in English. An interest in French culture and language is a plus.

Videography Intern

Position Overview:
We are looking for a highly motivated videographer or media production student to film and edit short videos for use on our website and marketing materials. The intern will create videos for use in our marketing efforts and will be used through our website and social networks. The intern will be able to improve their technical skills in developing mixed media and will build their resume for future employment.

What to expect:
On-the-job experience in the Marketing & Communications Department and great exposure to the best of contemporary French culture in New York

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with our marketing team to develop ideas for our web video pieces
  • Coordinate filming of FIAF events with marketing team
  • Plan, shoot, and edit video for website content
  • Work closely with website coordinator to download videos when needed

Education/Skills Required:

  • Experience in media production including some coursework
  • Preferable major in Film Production or any major that requires production, editing, lighting, sound
  • Majors in photography, film, communications and are encouraged to apply
  • Proficiency with and access to video editing software (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.)
  • Graphic design experience is a plus (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator,InDesign, etc.), but not a requirement
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, energetic, creative self-starter, and able to multi-task
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible schedule and able to attend evening events
  • Strong interest in the arts and desire to work in a Francophile/multi-cultural environment

Compensation:
This internship is unpaid although French classes, tickets to events, and a membership to FIAF are offered. Students may receive course credit as well.

Commitment:
We are looking for someone to assist in the Marketing Department approximately 10 hours per week on an as-needed basis with a minimum commitment of six months. Interns should be available at least two (2) evenings per week to assist with events, and occasional weekends.
