FIAF (French Institute Alliance Française) is an American, private, not-for-profit 501(c) (3), non-governmental organization. Its mission is to promote and enhance the knowledge and appreciation of French and Francophone culture, to increase the knowledge of the French language, and to encourage interaction among French, Francophone and American people through programs in education and the arts.

Vice President of Marketing & Communication

The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) seeks an experienced candidate for our open position of Vice President of Marketing and Communication. Under the direction of the President, the Vice President of Marketing and Communication is responsible for building and managing FIAF’s brand by increasing visibility and maintaining consistent yet innovative visuals and messaging. This person will devise marketing strategies, promotions, campaign budgets, and media plans to achieve institutional goals.

Qualifications:
The individual shall posses the minimum of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in a related field. A minimum of ten years of proven successful experience in marketing in a cultural or public service field is required. Director status is required with a Senior Director status preferred. The individual must have the ability to supervise and/or direct activities in the area of marketing and communication. The individual must also possess an acceptable level of computer literacy and familiarity with communications software. Good human relations skills are a must as is the ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment. An advanced French language skill is desired.

Principle Activities:

  • Manage Marketing & Communications team (Marketing Manager, Communications Director, Graphic Designer, full-time intern, part-time design intern).
  • Work closely with all other VP’s to identify potential audiences and create positioning for classes, programs, festivals, series, and events.
  • Work closely with VP of Development to increase membership and cultivate/fulfill sponsorships commitments. Secure media sponsorships
  • Oversee daily operations of all marketing and press activities. Supervise implementation of marketing campaigns including advertising (print, radio, online, outdoor, etc.), promotions, print (brochures, postcards, etc.), internet (website, online promotions, email promotions), copywriting/editing, design and approval process, and all related marketing activities.
  • Supervise development of FIAF.org, and manage site content with web programmer.
  • Develop and implement audience-building strategies.
  • Manage marketing budgets for Marketing & Communications, Cultural programs, Language School, and Library.
  • Analyze marketing efforts, analyze sales patterns; oversee market research.

Technicians

The French Institute Alliance Francaise is seeking experienced non-union Lighting and Sound Technicians and Multi-Media Projectionists to expand our freelance crew call list. Located on the Upper East Side, FIAF has a full weekly schedule consisting of film, dance, theatre, concerts and conferences in our three spaces: Florence Gould Hall, Tinker Auditorium and Le Skyroom. 

Lighting Technicians must be proficient with general electrics knowledge (hang, focus, maintenance of gear).  Familiarity with the operation and programming of ETC Expression 3 and Express consoles, as well as small-scale lighting design experience, is a plus.

Sound Technicians must have a background in live sound reinforcement, with Front of House and Monitor mixing experience, as well as the ability to run theatrical cues and audio playback for multi-media.

Deck Hands must have experience with general back stage operation. Stage Managing experience a plus.

Le Centre de Langue du FIAF recrute pour la rentrée de janvier 2008 :

Des professeurs de français langue étrangère pour son programme pour adultes et enfants ou adolescents.

Le ou la candidate doit être :

  • expérimenté(e)
  • diplômé(e) en française langue étrangère (Maîtrise FLE, DAEFLE ou équivalent)
  • dynamique, enthousiaste, consciencieux(se), ouvert(e) aux nouvelles technologies
  • apte à suivre un curriculum et à travailler sur objectifs
  • disponible en soirées et le samedi (emploi à temps partiel rémunéré à l’heure)

Un professeur de français langue étrangère ou instituteur pour son programme pour tout-petits « à petits pas : French for toddlers » pour enfants de 1 à 5 ans.

Le ou la candidate doit être :

  • expérimenté(e)
  • de préférence diplômé(e) en française langue étrangère et / ou enseignement en français précoce
  • dynamique, enthousiaste, consciencieux(se), ouvert(e) aux nouvelles technologies
  • apte à travailler sur objectifs, suivre un curriculum, et interagir avec les parents
  • disponible en matinées en semaine et le samedi (emploi à temps partiel rémunéré à l’heure)

Dans tous les cas, les candidats doivent être :
- de langue maternelle française
- en possession d’un permis de travail américain
