Programming Coordinator

The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) seeks an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Programming Coordinator to join its small and dynamic cultural programming team. The Programming Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the production of FIAF’s cultural season, which includes annual festivals, live theater performances, talks and panel discussions, and children’s programming. The Programming Coordinator will also oversee FIAF’s Young Audience Outreach Program, which brings schoolchildren from the Tri-State Area to specially curated performances and film screenings in FIAF’s theater.

This is not a curatorial position.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Communication and Publicity: Prepare written communications providing cultural context for FIAF’s season to support publicity efforts. Serve as liaison between artists and FIAF’s marketing and press departments, gathering all text, images, and video related to upcoming performances and events.
  • Artist Visits: Coordinate flights, hotels, and local transportation for artistic teams; ensure that artists have all they need during their visits to New York and coordinate FIAF hospitality (green room, etc.).
  • Outreach Program: Serve as point person for local schools, sending invitations to five Young Audience Program events each season and welcoming school groups to performances. Oversee production of study guides to be used by classroom teachers prior to each performance.
  • Administration: Prepare financial reports, coordinate with FIAF’s lawyers on visa processing for visiting artists, archive all production-related material, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.


  • Bachelor of Arts with 3 years experience and/or focus in arts administration.
  • Bilingual French/English a must. 
  • Understanding of performing arts, including a thorough understanding of what it takes to put it all together (including budgets, touring, etc.).
  • Administrative work experience in a diverse performing arts environment preferred.
  • Interest in working with artists and companies.
  • Excellent written communication skills in both English and French.
  • Understanding of and interest in FIAF’s mission and programming.

Marketing Director for the Language Center

FIAF’s Marketing Director for the Language Center is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing the marketing for the Language Center. The position reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing and Communications while working closely with the marketing team and Language Center staff.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Devise and implement new strategies for acquisition of new Language Center students and new FIAF members in addition to retention of current students and members
  • Track and analyze progress in registrations for each session, while also reviewing past registration data and trends
  • Help create and analyze student surveys
  • Conduct market analysis, including regular benchmarking of competition and researching key trends in foreign language education
  • Write and edit copy ranging from marketing materials to class descriptions
  • Oversee design process (submission, routing, confirmation) of all FIAF marketing print materials and publications related to Language Center
  • Conceive and manage all ad buys (print and digital) and place all advertising related to the Language Center
  • Plan and execute seasonal direct mail campaigns
  • Create regular reports assessing effectiveness of marketing campaigns
  • Identify and research targets for cross promotion and partnerships
  • Post regular listings for Language Center programs and provide writing support for press releases for Language Center programs
  • Ensure all marketing activities are aligned with the FIAF brand


  • BA in Marketing, Communications, or related field
  • Preferred 5+ years demonstrated professional growth in marketing or related field
  • Preferred experience in an academic environment and/or new client acquisition
  • Exceptional English writing and editing skills
  • Good knowledge of French is essential
  • Strong project management skills required
  • Ability to manage multiple, competing priorities successfully
  • Ability to work independently,; prioritize tasks,; and exercise good judgment and initiative
  • Available to attend occasional evening events
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal)
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite preferred but not mandatory
  • Sense of humor

Le ou la candidat(e) doit :

  • Avoir une expérience de l’enseignement à des enfants et /ou des adolescents et/ou des adultes dans un même établissement pendant une durée minimale de 6 mois.
  • Etre diplômé(e) en français langue étrangère (Master FLE, DAEFLE ou équivalent) ou en tant que maître des écoles.
  • Etre dynamique, enthousiaste, consciencieux (se), créatif (ve), formé(e) aux nouvelles technologies, bon sens du relationnel avec les étudiants, les enfants et les parents, ouvert(e) au travail en équipe.
  • Etre disponible en semaine et le samedi (emploi rémunéré à l’heure)
    • En journée de 9h30 à 17h30 pour les enfants.
    • Essentiellement en soirée de 17h45 à 21h pour les adultes (mais aussi en journée à partir de 9h30).
    • Le samedi de 9h30 à 16h30

Dans tous les cas, les candidats doivent être :

  • De langue maternelle française.
