Digital Marketing Coordinator
Job Title: Digital Marketing Coordinator
Department: Marketing & Communications
Reports To: Director of Marketing & Communications
Designation: Full-time
Position Summary
The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to French language and culture, is seeking a highly-organized, self-motivated Digital Marketing Coordinator with excellent verbal and written communication skills to help coordinate FIAF’s email marketing campaigns and website updates. Under the direction of the current Director of Marketing, you will work with all FIAF’s departments (cultural, educational, development) to fulfill their email and digital marketing objectives.
Main Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
- Help manage email marketing campaigns end-to-end, including list pulls, testing, execution, mailing, and analytics
- Manage email schedule for upcoming events and classes
- Work with the Marketing Coordinator to create email text and select graphics
- Code emails and site pages in HTML
- Assist with updating fiaf.org
- Compile marketing statistics, analyze, and create reports
- Stay current with best practices, strategies, and industry standards related to email and digital marketing
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- 1-2 years experience through past jobs or internships
- Fluency in HTML, CSS and other Internet technologies
- Experience using an E-Marketing tool and knowledge of database management
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of Javascript and other scripting languages is a plus
- Experience with Dreamweaver and other Adode Creative Suite programs
- Ability to provide creative input and suggest different ways to communicate marketing messages
- Must be able to multi-task and effectively manage the timely delivery of work against short deadlines
- Ability to create written and visual content that clearly communicates a message
- Fluency in English. An interest in French culture and language is a plus.

Graphic Designer
Job Title: Graphic Designer

Position Summary
The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF), a New York-based nonprofit dedicated to French language and culture, is seeking a graphic designer. FIAF’s graphic design team creates materials to support the organization’s various marketing, communications, and development campaigns. These materials include, but are not limited to, event calendars, brochures, newsletters, postcards, flyers, posters, invitations, print and online advertisements, journals, annual reports, signage, etc. In this position, you will work with FIAF’s other on-site, full-time graphic designer as well as a Paris-based artistic director (on certain projects), in order to develop strong creative concepts that engage, attract, promote, and sell FIAF’s cultural and educational programs, special events, and library. The designer will learn, work within, and help to grow/evolve FIAF’s established style guidelines and strong visual identity.
Responsibilities & Duties (include but are not limited to):
- Create and implement innovative design for print and digital projects using a range of media including photography, illustration, and computer-aided design.
- With the Marketing Department, manage and maintain the FIAF brand identity across print and digital platforms.
- Review final layouts and proofs, and coordinate edits/improvements.
- Go on press for certain high-priority projects.
- Deftly manage multiple projects and time-sensitive deadlines.
- Confer with FIAF’s President, Vice President of Marketing & Communications, Marketing Coordinator, and all other relevant FIAF departments in order to determine creative concept, layout, and design of all FIAF materials.
- Work closely with Marketing Coordinator and departmental interns on the routing of materials and the overall production schedule.
- Collaborate with IT department on software and hardware needs and issues, as well as FIAF’s website, e-newsletters, and all digital media.
- Art direct photo shoots when needed for promotional material.
- Organize and manage in-house photographs and archival materials, and coordinate with external organizations to solicit photographic images, as needed.
- Keep abreast of developments in design software, tools, and programs, along with new trends in art, design, and visual culture at large.
- Solicit and compile printing quotes/estimates, and manage relationships with printers and other external vendors—pay invoices at the end of every project.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, as well as demonstrable skills and talent in graphic design.
- Excellent knowledge and appreciation of French language and culture. Fluency is a strong plus.
- Strong capacity to work in a team environment and to synthesize input from different sources.
- Must be able to adjust to multiple and shifting priorities, be meticulous, thorough and detailed; be able to meet deadlines and manage time effectively.
- Must have advanced knowledge and technical, streamlined prowess with InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
- Positive attitude and solid work ethic.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal departments and external partners.
- Experience in and knowledge of typography, color theory, and printing processes.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Knowledge of Dreamweaver (HTML & CSS) and After Effects a plus.
- Strong interest in and knowledge of design & art history a plus.

Vice President of
Development
Job Title: Vice President of Development

Position Summary
The French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) seeks an experienced candidate for our open position of Vice President of Development. Reporting to and working closely with the President, the Vice President of Development also works with the Board of Trustees and is responsible for overseeing all development efforts throughout the organization. This person will coordinate and manage FIAF's corporate, foundation, individual, special event, and government fundraising efforts; lead FIAF's Annual, Capital, and Endowment Support campaigns (where the current Annual goal is approximately $1.25M); and successfully manage a 6-9 person development team. Candidates should have at least seven years of experience working in development in a cultural institution. All activities shall be conducted in a manner consistent with established policies and procedures to enable FIAF to achieve its defined goals and objectives.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop, manage, and implement strategic fundraising plan and achieve Annual income goals for FIAF's cultural, educational, and library programs.
- Identify and implement short-term and long-term fundraising goals, strategies, and outcomes for FIAF's cultural, educational, and library programs.
- Develop short and long-term strategy for department's fundraising efforts.
- Serve and build a loyal donor base for FIAF by developing, overseeing, and executing all fundraising efforts. Help establish a positive, direct relationship between FIAF and its critically important donors and prospective donors, working collaboratively with FIAF colleagues and Board members where appropriate.
- Aim for increased membership numbers both in terms of annual revenue and total membership households.
- Oversee all government and foundation grants, which are both identified as growth areas for the institution.
- Identify and cultivate individual and corporate donors and sponsors in conjunction with the President.
- Cultivate existing relations and develop new prospects for sponsorships and partnerships.
- Produce letters of inquiry, proposals, final reports, letters, invitations and other correspondence, brochures, fliers, and other written materials supporting cultivation, development, and fundraising efforts.
- Oversee all electronic and print communications related to fundraising efforts.
- Maintain and prepare progress and final reports required for internal (staff) and external (Board of Directors and general public) use.
- Establish and maintain effective internal filing system for managing, tracking, projecting, and utilizing records regarding actual and prospective donor gifts.
- Manage all elements of FIAF's donor recognition program and maintain a reliable stewardship effort for all donors.
- Oversee event cultivation and development strategy, and attend FIAF special events and presentations to meet, greet, host, and/or identify FIAF prospects and donors.
- Oversee the Development OTPS expense budgets.
- Supervise, hire, train, and develop fundraising staff members, interns, and volunteers.
- Perform such other job related duties as may be periodically assigned by the President.
- Coordinate efforts with the Vice Presidents of Programming, Marketing and Public Relations.
- Work with the Development Committee and other leaders of the Board of Trustees.
- Cooperate and work effectively and congenially with all staff members, volunteers, and members of FIAF.
Qualifications
- Advanced spoken and written French language skills a must.
- Excellent verbal, written, general communication, interpersonal, & organizational skills
- Should have a strong appreciation of French culture, as well as interest in and knowledge of FIAF programs.
- Longstanding relationships with corporate donors and foundations that support cultural programs in New York desired.
- A minimum of a B.A degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university required.
- A minimum of seven years of proven successful experience in fundraising in a cultural institution.
- Must have held a position as a Senior Director in Development.
- Financial management skills required.
- Computer literacy required, and must be proficient with Raiser's Edge and other fundraising software.
- Good human relations skills are essential, as is the ability to work in a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic environment.
- Must be able to work irregular hours, including some evenings.
- Ability to foster, facilitate, & develop important relationships

Technicians
The French Institute Alliance Francaise employs non-union Lighting and Sound Technicians and Multi-Media Projectionists. FIAF has a full weekly schedule consisting of film, dance, theatre, concerts and conferences in our three spaces: Florence Gould Hall, Tinker Auditorium and Le Skyroom.
Lighting Technicians must be proficient with general
electrics knowledge (hang, focus, maintenance of gear). Familiarity
with the operation and programming of ETC Expression 3 and
Express consoles, as well as small-scale lighting design
experience, is a plus.
Sound Technicians must have a background in live
sound reinforcement, with Front of House and Monitor mixing
experience, as well as the ability to run theatrical cues
and audio playback for multi-media.
Deck Hands must have experience with general back
stage operation. Stage Managing experience a plus.
