New Easy French Series: Alex Leroc, journaliste

The FIAF Library presents a new series of Easy French readers, for students in levels A1, A2 and B1. Alex Leroc is a Belgian journalist who reports on scandals involving celebrity personalities. Follow him down thorny paths in the worlds of sports, music, cinema and politics as he discovers surprising secrets on his quest to get the story. Many of the titles come with an audio CD. Each book contains a study guide, with exercises, important grammar points, games and questions.

The Alex Leroc books are located in the Library’s Leviant Centre de Ressources FLE, arranged alongside the other collections of Français facile easy readers, classified by language level.

Breeze through the same books Parisians are reading— without a dictionary!

If you love good books and speak a little French, it's time to expand your horizons. The FIAF Library now presents the Linguality French Book Club selection of recently published French books. This series presents an extensive glossary placed opposite every page of text, and is an excellent way for language learners to discover current French literature.

Every difficult word and expression is defined, typically over 2,000 entries per book. This is the exciting innovation of Linguality: current fiction and non-fiction with so much annotation you don’t need a translation, or even a dictionary. With just a basic grasp of French, you can enjoy wonderful contemporary literature and raise your culture quotient several notches. As a bonus, each of the titles comes with a FREE audio CD containing a fascinating 35- to 45-minute conversation in French with the author, with a full transcript included.

The Linguality team includes Wes and Dianne Green, who published the Champs-Elysées family of language products for over 20 years. The book selections come from some of France’s most prestigious publishing houses, including éditions Fayard, éditions de Fallois, éditions du Rocher, and éditions Héloïse d’Ormesson.

The first two novels in the selection are Chemins de fer de Benoît Duteurtre and Le Resquilleur du Louvre de Bernard Chenez. Bonne lecture!

La Revue des revues de « CULTURES FRANCE » propose tous les deux mois une sélection de cinq articles issus de grandes revues françaises généralistes et spécialisées (Le Débat, Esprit, la Revue des Deux Mondes, etc). Ces articles dans les domaines des sciences humaines, sociales et exactes, de la géopolitique, des questions européennes et internationales, de la littérature et de la philosophie rendent compte de la diversité des champs de la pensée française contemporaine et enrichissent le débat d’idées.
