Soundwalk teams up with Kantara to create an
immersive audiovisual installation called Untangling Threads.
This installation recreates life among Moroccan women
weavers, who have maintained the age-old craft of
indigenous weaving in a country where men are primarily
responsible for most artisanal production. The rugs that
you will sit upon are covered with designs that have been
passed down through generations and the recorded sounds
you will hear are excerpts from the collective's specially-commissioned
work The Passenger. Together, the rugs and
sounds will transport the viewer from the streets of New York
to the vibrant world of Morocco.
